Research Interests
I use SLAC’s x-ray laser to take snapshots of atomic motion at the fastest timescales and shortest distances. This allows us to observe, for example, how atoms rearrange during a phase transition, how heat propagates at nanoscale dimensions, or how charges move in a battery material. This knowledge gives us microscopic clues on how to design new materials with interesting technological properties.
