Interests
Research interests in the Backlund Group are centered on applied quantum sensing and microscopy methods for the investigation of molecular-scale systems. One thrust of the lab involves using quantum defects in diamond to parse complex phenomena in targets relevant to biophysics and soft condensed matter. Another thrust casts single-molecule microscopies as conduits of quantum and classical information in order to establish and saturate metrological limits inherent to these important techniques.
