Michael Smith is the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Illinois Quantum Information and Science Center. Michael’s professional experience includes experience as a K-12 educator in multiple school districts in Illinois, including Chicago Public Schools, Champaign Unit 4 Schools, and Urbana School District 116. Michael has experience collaborating with local schools and community organizations in the Champaign-Urbana area through his previous position as Education Coordinator for The Principal’s Scholars Program at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Michael is experienced with STEM education programming and reaching underrepresented and diverse populations. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Agricultural Education program and a master’s degree in Secondary Education with a focus in STEM Education from Grand Canyon University. Michael is also a member of the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Incorporated and currently serves as the Midwest Region Community Impact Liaison.
