Matthew Gilbert is broadly working on the theory of topology and topological quantum information processing. This effort encompasses the application analytic and numerical modeling to understand the use topological materials to design energy-efficient circuit elements and pairing topological materials with other dissimilar materials to understand the nature of the resulting topological excitations. The end goal of the work is to elucidate the role, if any, of topology and topological materials in the future of information processing architectures.
